St. Stephen's Parish Church

The parish church of St Stephen is in the centre of Leuk. The towering and imposing bell tower draws the visitor's attention to the stately building.

Steppes in the Pfyn Forest

Living conditions in the steppe landscape are extreme for plants. The soil is stony and dry and it can get extremely hot in summer. In the Rottensand temperatures of up to 65 °C have been measured.

The forest fire area Leuk

After the fire above Leuk different stages of revegetation can be observed. In many places the flower carpets of the red soapwort have made way for young forests, while other locations are still bare.

The Hot Spot Gemmi

It is directly adjacent to the terrace of Wildstrubel mountain restaurant.

The pond at Leukerfeld

Leukerfeld has blossomed into a paradise for bird watchers in the last few years as a result of upgrading by the A9 motorway compensation measures.

The Raspille

The Raspille is the river which officially separates the two language regions of the Canton of Valais, the Lower Valais and the Upper Valais.
The river originates in the Plaine-Morte glacier and flows into the River Rhone between Salgesch and Sierre
