The funicular railway takes us from Sierre to Montana and there we take the bus to Aminona. The climb leads mainly through the forest and is rewarded with a surprise by the Raspille, which also forms the border between German and French-speaking areas. The footpath takes us right through the waterfall. Enjoy this wonderful setting!
We continue to Cordona where we visit the chapel before entering the world of rocky steppes. This kind of vegetation is typical for the area and hard to find in other areas of Switzerland. The biological diversity is remarkable here and there is a good chance of seeing rare plants and insects- so keep your eyes open! Finally we follow the big water canal as far as Varen. On this stretch, the view of the wild riverbed of the Rhone and the Pfyn forest is particularly spectacular. If there is time to spare before the bus leaves it is definitely worth visiting the church in Varen and then try some Pfyfoltru Pinot Noir in one of the many restaurants or wineries.
